A snappy storyline

Pitt portrays an assassin whose most recent alias is “Ladybug,” so the plot should be action-packed. The assassin Prince (Joey King), Tangerine (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Lemon (Brian Tyree Henry), and Kimura are among the assassins that board a bullet train going quickly through Japan as part of a new assignment (Andrew Koji). The R-rated Sony movie also stars Sandra Bullock.

An adaptation of a Japanese novel

Based on a Japanese novel by Kotaro Isaka, published in 2010, Zak Olkewicz wrote the screenplay. The book, titled “Bullet Train” in English, is available on Amazon in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle formats for anyone who wants to compare the film to the original writing.

Director with a focus on action

David Leitch, who previously directed “Deadpool 2” (2018) and “Atomic Blonde” (2017), which starred Ryan Reynolds and Charlize Theron, demonstrated his skill with the action movie genre. Leitch, though, is not one of those directors who just stands back and yells “action!” Leitch was a frequent stunt performer and coordinator on other people’s movies before taking the helm (including numerous featuring Pitt).

Take a Pitt fix.

In a career that dates back to the late 1980s, Pitt has demonstrated a talent for adaptability. Check out a few of Pitt’s most renowned and varied prior movies as you get ready for “Bullet Train.” On-home video or streaming services, all are accessible.

In David Fincher’s gory yet captivating contemporary film noir, “Se7en” (1995), Pitt and Freeman co-star as detectives attempting to apprehend a serial killer in an early, star-making performance.

  1. In Steven Soderbergh’s trilogy of Rat Pack remakes, “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Ocean’s Twelve,” and “Ocean’s Thirteen,” Pitt played Rusty Ryan, one of heist master Danny Ocean’s more relaxed criminal associates (George Clooney).
  2. Brad Pitt co-stars in “Burn After Reading” (2008) as a memorable, dumb gym employee who is constantly outwitted. The Coen Brothers find plenty to mock in the inner workings of the U.S. government in this send-up of the CIA.
  3.  “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2019): Pitt won his first Academy Award for his portrayal of stuntman Cliff Booth, a close friend and coworker of Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) in Hollywood in the late 1960s.
